Pablo F. Cantalapiedra

I am a musicologist and performer specializing in medieval musical repertoires, with a particular focus on Hispanic liturgical chant, manuscript transmission, and historically informed performance practices. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Musicology at the Complutense University of Madrid, where I hold a full-time predoctoral research position (2024–2028) within the *Early Music* research group.

Since 2019, I have served as Project Manager of the Spanish Early Music Manuscripts (SEMM) project, which is dedicated to the cataloguing, study, and dissemination of medieval and Renaissance musical sources of Hispanic origin. In this role, I coordinate codicological and musical description, indexing processes, digital data management, and the development of research tools within the field of Digital Humanities.

My academic training includes a Master’s degree in Early Music Performance (ESMUC/Autonomous University of Barcelona) and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Sciences of Music (Autonomous University of Madrid). Alongside my research activity, I have developed sustained university-level teaching experience in areas such as musical notation, source editing, medieval and Renaissance music history, and introductory musicology, having taught at the Complutense University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Madrid, and the European University of Madrid.

I actively participate in national and international competitive research projects, including projects funded by the European Research Council, and I regularly present papers at scholarly conferences. My academic work combines historical research, musical analysis, performance practice, and digital methodologies applied to the study of early musical sources.
