Yi Huang is a percussionist, researcher, and educator whose work bridges contemporary music performance, interdisciplinary research, and artistic collaboration. She is currently a second-year PhD student in Performing Arts and Moving Image at the University of Lisbon, where she also serves as an International Student Ambassador. In addition, she is a member of the International Expert Committee of the Belgian National Music and Arts Association and an active performer with the Clamat Percussion Ensemble, through which she regularly participates in contemporary music projects and collaborative performances.

From 2017 to 2021, Yi Huang was Principal Percussionist of the Blue Shield Symphony Orchestra at South China Normal University, where she studied percussion under Yao Chen of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. During this period, she took part in orchestral tours and international performances, including concert tours in South Korea.

In 2021, she was admitted to the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (Germany), where she studied with Olaf Tzschoppe, André Kollikowski (former Berlin Philharmonic percussionist), and Jesper Tjærby Korneliusen (principal percussionist of the Hamburg Philharmonic). While in Germany, she joined the Bremen Percussion Ensemble under Prof. Tzschoppe, participating in several world premieres and concert tours across Germany. Her work involved close collaboration with composers and performers from Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Greece, as well as participation in contemporary chamber and orchestral projects under the direction of contemporary music conductor René Gulikers.

She currently studies with Prof. Carlos Marecos, Director of the Lisbon School of Music. Her doctoral research focuses on physiological feedback–driven multisensory percussion performance, exploring the relationships between embodied perception, technological media, and real-time audiovisual expression. Yi Huang has performed extensively in China and internationally, including appearances in Lisbon, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Graz, Seoul, and other cities, gaining broad experience within diverse contemporary music contexts.
