The Department of Musical Sciences promotes a day in honor of Constança Capdeville (1937-1992), on the occasion of her 80th birthday.

Constança Capdeville was a prominent figure in the Portuguese music scene of the 20th century, through a multifaceted activity as a composer, interpreter and teacher, having her name associated, among other institutions, with the Department of Musical Sciences at FCSH, whose faculty she did. part.

Thus, FCSH will carry out, on June 8, 2017, Thursday, a first set of activities in celebration of this remarkable artist and pedagogue. These include the presentation of ongoing research works (11 am-1pm) on the music of Constança Capdeville, a round table with Olga Prats, Luís Madureira, António de Sousa Dias and Maria João Serrão moderated by Jorge Matta (16h) , the projection of videos and the realization of three musical moments with pieces by Portuguese composers (12:30 pm; 2:30 pm; 4:00 pm). In the beginning of October, there will be a second moment of this celebration, with the musical-theatrical show ‘THIS IS NOT A HAPPENING’, with the participation of a group of students and professors from the Department and guests. The show features premieres of works by António Chagas Rosa, António de Sousa Dias, Carlos Caires, Cláudio de Pina and Isabel Pires.
