In the 21st century, music is intrinsically tied to digital media and the Internet. From streaming platforms and online communities to generative AI, the boundaries between offline and online are growing ever more tenuous. Although it was once widely held that these technological mediations would give rise to global cultural tendencies, today scholarly attention is increasingly focused on the relationship between these technologies and local cultures.

In this sense, CysMus (Studies in Sound and Music in Digital and Audiovisual Media) hosts its IX Workshop, titled Glocal Perspectives on Music and Media. The workshop will bring together researchers working on music, discourses, practices, phenomena and experiences located in the porous boundaries between offline/online and local/global.

The workshop will take place online, through Zoom, on the 21st of September 2024. The event has the coordination of André Malhado, who is also part of the organisation, like Joana Freitas, João Araújo, Júlia Durand, and Vinícius de Aguiar.
