“Ler e ouvir a Revolução”: literature and music on 25 April

FreeThird reading session of literary texts about the Portuguese revolutionary process and interpretation of associated musical pieces. Event organised by CESEM and CHAM in partnership with the Aljube Museum.
On one hand, Alina Baldé, Isabel Araújo Branco, Isabel Gomes de Almeida, João Paulo Oliveira e Costa, Jorge Cabral and Margarida Rendeiro will read original texts by José Luandino Vieira, Isabela Figueiredo, Miguel Torga, Maria Teresa Horta, João de Melo, José Cardoso Pires, and Sidónio Muralha. On the other hand, Vera Cordeniz (soprano), Sara Maia (soprano), João Coutinho (tenor), Abel Chaves (piano), João Nogueira (double bass), Patrícia Lopes (percussion), Ana Praguento (clarinet) and Ângela Flores Baltazar (violin) will perform musical compositions by José Afonso (text and music), José Mário Branco (text and music), Sérgio Godinho (text), Fernando Lopes-Graça (music), José Gomes Ferreira (text), Reinaldo Ferreira (text). and Manuel Freire (text and music). The session will also feature projections of Colonial War photographs, murals, and posters.
The event will have musical direction by Abel Chaves and musical production by Vera Cordeniz, Abel Chaves, Patrícia Lopes and Sara Maia. In addition to Sara Maia, the organising committee includes Paula Gomes-Ribeiro and Isabel Araújo Branco, who is responsible for the literary programme. Sara Maia and Abel Chaves / CESEM were responsible for preparing the scores and arranging the music. They worked on the repertoire other than José Mário Branco and songs by José Mário Branco, respectively.
