Biography

Born in Lisbon, he has a degree in Organ from the Munich School of Music and Theatre, and in Sacred Music from the Regensburg School of Sacred Music (Organ and Improvisation with Franz Josef Stoiber). These studies were only possible with the support of the Diocese of Regensburg and the Geiselberg Foundation in Munich. He subsequently attended Hans-Ola Ericsson’s organ class at the Bremen School of Music. He has given concerts both as a soloist and as part of various choral and orchestral groups in various European countries, Mexico and Brazil. As well as being a regular guest at the main national organ concert cycles and festivals, he has also co-ordinated the Organ Concert Cycles at the Basílica dos Mártires in Lisbon, and the Integral Work for Organ by Olivier Messiaen, presented at the Lisbon Patriarchal Cathedral on the occasion of the composer’s centenary celebrations. An organ teacher at the National Liturgical Music Courses organised by the Shrine of Fatima in collaboration with the National Secretariat for the Liturgy, he is also a regular collaborator with the Sacred Music Service of the Parish of Santa Maria de Belém. As part of this collaboration, he also programmes the Organ Concert Cycles at the Jerónimos Monastery. He currently teaches organ and improvisation at the Gregorian Institute and the Lisbon School of Music.
