Joana de Almeida Júdice Peliz is currently a PhD student in Historical Musicology at NOVA FCSH, having completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the same subject at the same institution. The aim of her project, which was developed in collaboration with the National Museum of Music (Museu Nacional da Música) and funded by an FCT grant in a non-academic environment, is to study the phenomenon of musical instrument collecting in Portugal in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Previously, she participated in the multidisciplinary Magic Lantern: Study, Safeguard, Uses and Reuses in 19th Century Portugal, which was also funded by the FCT. This project involved studying stage music for theatrical magic and magic lantern shows.
As a CESEM collaborator, between 2020 and 2022, she also contributed to the Catalogue of the Music Archive of the Museum-Library of the House of Braganza.
