Born in Lisbon in 1979.
Multi-instrumentalist musician, composer and music producer, he works between contemporary, traditional and world music.
He co-founded and directs Electroville Jukebox, a project dedicated to contemporary, experimental and improvised music, and Bissau-Lisboa, dedicated to the intersection of sounds from West Africa and Portugal.
He regularly composes music for theater and dance shows, including collaborations with Fernando Mota, Ana Sofia Paiva, Filipa Francisco, Marta Cerqueira, among others.
As a music producer he has collaborated with several musicians such as Ana Telles, Suzanna Lidegran, Americ’Antiga Coro & Orquestra, Braima Galissá, Gueladjo Sané, Ruben Jacinto, Marco Brescia, Rosana Orsini, Rui Baeta, Rui Pinheiro, among others. He has carried out several works in the field of contemporary music and opera, including operas by Luis Soldado, a collection of soundtracks by Simão Costa, the album “9 Motions for a Still Frame” by Luis André Ferreira and “Electroville” by Electroville Jukebox . In the field of music for children, he recorded the documentary DVD “10 anos do Coro Infantil da Universidade de Lisboa”, and “Contos Contados Com Som – Vol.II” published by Miso Records. He was co-producer of the “Nha Mininu” project, which culminated in the publication of a CD of traditional children’s music from Guinea-Bissau, based on recordings collected in the field in May and June 2017.
He completed a degree in Musicology at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2006 and a Master’s degree in Acoustics and Music Technology from the University of Edinburgh in 2007, having also studied Classical Guitar, Electric Guitar, Portuguese Guitar, Mandolin, Drums, Choral and Orchestral Conducting.
