Biography

Pedro was born in 1977 in Porto, Portugal. Graduated in the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa with Pedro Couto Soares and in the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland with Sébastien Marq (recorder) and Ku Ebbinge (historical oboes).

His professional activity includes several orchestras and early music ensembles in the main artistic centers in Europe. In October 2010 he conducted the modern premiere of Serenata “L’Angelica” by João de Sousa Carvalho. In 2012 he conducted “Paride ed Elena” by Gluck.

As a soloist he performed with Capela Real, Divino Sospiro and Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música playing concertos by Vivaldi, Telemann, Marcello and J.S. Bach. He also collaborates with “7 lágrimas” with whom he has recorded and toured extensively.

He is a PhD student in the university of Aveiro where he is researching the tradition of the court serenata in Lisbon in the time of queen Maria I (1777-1800). He conducted the first modern recording of serenata “L’Angelica” wich was released by Naxos in 2016.

He teaches recorder, historical oboes and chamber music at ESML – IPL.
