The lecture-recital is centered in the relation between Portuguese composer Fernando Lopes-Graça and Brazilian musical and literary milieu in the 20th Century. The program evokes some of the songs Lopes-Graça had the opportunity to listen to during his first visit to Brazil in 1958, when he and the tenor António Saraiva divided a recital with Brazilian soprano Lia Salgado and pianist Francisco Mignone. We also selected Brazilian songs presented in Lisbon during the 1940’s and 50’s by the concert society Sonata, in whose foundation and direction the composer participated. The lyrics are by Brazilian renowned poets like Manuel Bandeira, Rui Ribeiro Couto and Jorge de Lima. The recital also celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first performance of the song Desafio (Lopes-Graça/Manuel Bandeira) in 1959, by the tenor Fernando Serafim and the composer as pianist.
