Biography

Born in Praia da Vitória, Terceira Island, Isabel Mendes began her musical education in the Banda Filarmónica União Praiense, playing clarinet, later joining the Artistic Program at EBI Praia da Vitória. In 2020, Isabel begun her studies in Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave, completing the Professional Wind and Percussion Instrumentalist Course (Clarinet Variant) in 2023, with a final grade of 16. During the course, Isabel joins the academic orchestras Orquestra Sinfónica ARTAVE and Orquestra de Sopros ARTAVE, collaborating with several maestros from the current musical scene, namely Rita Castro Blanco, Diogo Costa, Luciano Pereira, Cesário Costa, Emílio de César and Carlos Garcés Fuentelsaz.

In the 2023/2024 school year, Isabel enrolled in the Degree in Musical Sciences at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where she is currently in the second year of the degree. Voluntarily, Isabel has been collaborating with several projects and institutions that sponsor musical estates and collections, such as the Luís da Silva Ribeiro Regional Library and Archive and the Angra do Heroísmo Museum, where she developed skills in the field of archivology. Currently, Isabel is also a member of the “Nova Embaixadores” project, where she represents the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in events aimed at promoting the institution’s courses and educational projects.
