Ângela da Ponte (CM) is the winner of 1st Alvaro García de Zúñiga International Lied Composition Competition

Ângela da Ponte, member of the Research Group on Contemporary Music, won the 1st Alvaro García de Zúñiga International Lied Composition Competition with her piece “Da keine Worte nur töne”, for soprano, flute, and electronics.

The competition aims to encourage the creation, performance, and dissemination of new musical works. The first edition featured 20 new pieces from 9 different countries. The jury included the composers Iris ter Schiphorst, Philippe Leroux and Miguel Azguime.
