NEWS IN THE SCOPE OF SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION PROJECT BETWEEN CESEM (THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF MUSIC LINE) AND ESEL (OBSTETRIC MATERNAL HEALTH NURSING DEPARTMENT)

1st PRIZE AWARDED TO POSTER “MUSIC THERAPY WITH INTERNAL PREGNANT PREGNANTS” AT THE 1st INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

Within the scope of CESEM’s “Line of Therapeutic Effects of Music” and aiming at the scientific recognition of Music Therapy among Health professionals through scientific cooperation strategies between researchers in the fields of music therapy, music and Health Sciences, the researcher Maria Eduarda Carvalho (Post-Doc fellow and member of CESEM) collaborated in the implementation of a clinical research project about the contribution of music therapy in maternal health care to pregnant women of high obstetric risk admitted to the Maternal-Fetal Service of Maternidade Dr. Alfredo da Costa (Lisbon Central Hospital Center). This project took place between March and June 2017, having arisen in the context of the Nursing Internship in the Maternal and Obstetric Health Specialty done by two intern nurses; had the guidance of nurse Teresa Félix, specialist in Maternal Obstetric Health and Assistant Professor at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Lisboa (ESEL). Following the analysis of the results of this study, a Poster entitled “Music Therapy with Pregnant Women” was presented at the 1st Congress on Sexual and Reproductive Health, having obtained the 1st Prize awarded by the Scientific Committee of Experts composed of invited speakers from the Congress Belgium (An de Craecker, Professor / Midwife, Artevelde Hogeschoo, Gent), Finland (Pirjo Koski, Professor / Midwife, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences – Helsinki) and Estonia (Irena Bartels, Midwife East-Tallinn Central Hospital Women’s Clinic, Tallinn).
