The activity “Preservation of Historical Audio Recordings: A Study of Chemical and Microbiological Degradation Mechanisms”, by Pedro Almeida (Research Group on Contemporary Music), will be part of the ‘Technologies’ thematic area, located in the Minerals Room, floor 0 of the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC).

CESEM will also be represented in Évora with ‘Listening to Évora – A Sound Walk Through the City’. This activity, coordinated by Pedro Moreira, with the collaboration of Rafael Lopes dos Santos (Research Group for the Study of Music, Critical Theory and Communication), aims to address the concept of Soundscape and promote active listening that relates sounds, heritage and memory in the context of Évora, in a participatory manner. To this end, a sound walk through the city is proposed as an active and informed experience on the subject.

The event, under the motto ‘Science for Global Challenges’, a theme for reflection and awareness for 2024/25, will take place on September 26.
