CysMus Conference Cycle I Session with André Malhado
January 29 @ 18:30 - 20:30 WET
FreeThe event offers regular meetings throughout the year, with one-hour sessions (30 minutes of presentation followed by 30 minutes of debate). With a variety of themes anchored in the group’s objectives, the conferences are open to the public, who can participate via Zoom.
The topics covered include algorithmic systems and artificial intelligence; the production, circulation and consumption of music on digital platforms; audiovisual formats such as music videos, digital games and cinema; catalogue music; and online cultures and communities, among others.
The initiative promotes a space for interdisciplinary dialogue on music and sound in digital and audiovisual media, contributing to the expansion of knowledge and the exchange of ideas.
The second session, at 6.30 pm on January 29, will be led by researcher André Malhado and moderated by Paula Gomes-Ribeiro and Júlia Durand. With ‘What’s the Bot Doing? Is He Improvising?: IA, concertos e ideais românticos nas produções audiovisuais’, André Malhado will explore the representation of keyboard concerts by audiovisual creators to reflect on the impact of current artificial intelligence (AI) applied to music.
The researcher notes that in these audiovisual works, AI is used to represent discourses “on the profession of instrumental musicians, the relationship between human and artificial creativity, the dichotomy between production and reproduction, and the role of art in constructing identity.”
