Mission
The CESEM PhD Students’ Committee aims to promote interaction and scientific dialogue among doctoral students, foster collaboration, and represent the specific interests of PhD researchers within CESEM’s governing and executive bodies. The Committee also supports the integration of new PhD students and organizes at least one annual academic event that brings together incoming, current and former PhD students, faculty, and both national and international academic communities.

Goals and Objectives
Main Objectives:
- Promote regular academic events that encourage sharing of ongoing research and preliminary findings;
- Create spaces for discussion on research methodologies, common challenges, and relevant issues in the doctoral journey;
- Facilitate the integration of new PhD students through specific initiatives and active engagement;
- Represent and advocate for the interests of PhD students within CESEM’s institutional bodies.
Targets for 2025 and 2026:
- Organise the 2nd Annual CESEM PhD Students Meeting (theme to be defined), aiming to broaden national and international participation;
- Host workshops on research methodologies and academic writing;
- Strengthen the Committee’s communication strategy, in coordination with CESEM’s institutional channels, in order to maximise the impact and visibility of the Committee’s activities.
Elections and Term Renewal
The Committee is composed of volunteer members from among CESEM’s PhD students, ideally representing different research sections and areas. The Committee is renewed biennially, aligned with CESEM’s Board elections, through an open call addressed to all CESEM-affiliated doctoral researchers. The outgoing Committee coordinates this process, inviting individual or group applications. If the number of candidates exceeds the available positions, a simple digital vote is held.
