Biography

Born in Torres Novas, Simão Quinta completed, in 2022, his Specialized Artistic Education in Music, branch of Transverse Flute, at the Conservatório de Música do Choral Phydellius. At the same institution, he joined the Coro Adulto, as a choralist, under the direction of conductor João Branco, with which he performed works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. As an instrumentalist, he took part in the EJIT 2017, directed by composer Jacob de Haan, and the EJIT 2019, conducted by Paulo Martins. He also took part in the OSMT Easter Internship in 2018, under the direction of conductor Simão Francisco, and in the same institution’s summer internship in 2019, under the direction of the American conductor Matthew George. Right now, he is studying for his degree in Musical Sciences, at Nova FCSH. He is a member of the Contemporary Music Research Group of the Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical (CESEM), on the recommendation of Professor Isabel Pires (PhD). As a musician, he continues to be a member of philharmonic bands and Coro Adulto at Choral Phydellius.
