Music Theatre Festival: 100 Years of Berio (1st Edition)

Principal Investigator: Filipa Magalhães

Abstract

The project entitled ‘Music Theatre Festival: 100 Years of Berio’ celebrates the 100th anniversary of birth of composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003), one of the most influential composers in the contemporary European music scene. The programme features music theatre works by Berio, Sylvano Bussotti, Salvatore Sciarrino, Luigi Nono, and Adriano Guarnieri, who will premiere one of his works and will be in Portugal for the first time, although Berio is the central figure. Italian and Portuguese musicians will collaborate in this festival to pass on the memory and musical legacy left by Berio to future generations.
