Rodrigo Toffolo and Andréa Luísa Teixeira, collaborating researchers from CESEM, were the presidents of the 1st International Colloquium António José da Silva, to celebrate the 280 years of his death. The Colloquium took place from August 15th to 17th, 2019, at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, in the city of Mariana – Minas Gerais. The Ouro Preto Orchestra Institute, which is chaired by Rodrigo Toffolo, also presented the Entremez “The Great Governor of Lagarto´s Island”, held at the Opera House in the city of Ouro Preto, with text by António José and musical research by David Cranmer. The Opera House in Ouro Preto is the oldest operating opera house in the Americas, dating from 1766.
