On September 27, Joana Peliz and Maria Sempiterno will bring the MAGICA project to the European Researchers’ Night, an event that aims to raise awareness of the importance of investigation and innovation in Europe.
Through engaging activities for the public of all ages, visitors can learn about the magic lantern instrument and its use, discover which paints were used in these miniature paintings, the sounds and music that accompanied their projections, and learn about some of the challenges scientists face in preserving these fascinating painted slides. These activities will be held at ‘Sala Pedagógicos’ on the 1st floor of the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) in Lisbon after 5 pm.
But the European Researchers’ Night is not just taking place in Lisbon. There are also activities in Braga, Coimbra, and Évora. And it is in the city of Alentejo, more precisely at Laboratório Hércules, at 7.30 pm, that Luzia Rocha will present, with other researchers involved, the SuitNanoMusic project, one of the six projects that were selected for funding under the Call for the funding of Exploratory Projects in the frame of the associate laboratory IN2PAST 2023/2024. Luzia Rocha will collaborate with the exhibition and explanation of materials related to music, musical iconography, and organology.
