In this session we propose to observe and discuss the role of images (as meaning-making practices) in the mediation of musical events in Lisbon in the magazines Ilustration Portuguesa (1903-1993) and Ilustration (1926-1939). We will focus on the three decades since 1903, the year of launch of the first magazine, incorporating our discussion on the different political, social and cultural dimensions that characterize this period.
