On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Alessandro Scarlatti’s death and the 340th anniversary of Domenico Scarlatti’s birth, the aim is to examine the context in which the Scarlatti family operated, trying to reconstruct the dense map of their relations with political and artistic realities. The international colloquium will be an opportunity to reflect not only on their musical works, but also on biographies, production systems, international relations and artistic strategies across the continent, from an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective.

The scientific committee of the event, which will take place at the Biblioteca da Ajuda I Palácio Nacional de Mafra, includes José Camões, Francesco Cotticelli, Teresa Chirico, José María Domínguez, Paologiovanni Maione, Giuseppina Raggi and Iskrena Yordanova (Music in the Modern Period Group).
